>>49233191I think the joke was that Unova is mostly linear whereas Hoenn loops in on itself. That said, I prefer Unova (Hoenn is my second favorite region) and I agree with the people who say there should have been more variety while surfing in the Hoenn water routes. Some NPC in Mosdeep literally gives you a King's Rock, but they didn't include Slowpoke and Poliwag in Hoenn. I get that they needed to sell FRLG, but seriously? I think the caves and islands being only accessible by diving was a better choice than having them easily visible on the routes though. It adds to the mystery.
