Boring back-smacks are the core of this game. Only a literal child could appreciate this simplicity beyond basic tolerance. Pointing out that this game is made for literal children is fine, but defending it on here makes you just as autistic as me.
On that note: catching any Pokemon should unfold like a mini-story, and part of the game play loop should be slightly tweaked based on the territory on which you're encroaching. This would make the game play more varied, deliver on the main premise of the series more thoroughly, and is something that could readily be appreciated by even children.
