Any sense of exploration or scale of the world is dampened by the fact that you're forced to finish the story before being able to do sidequests. It makes sense when you're still in
preschool, but not so much when you're out of it.
The story in the second half moves way too fast to feel for, and I lost a lot of interest after finding out what the main villain was. The ending has too many stupid plot twists, and after the incredibly short postgame I was numb.
