People are complaining about how the toucan is uninspired and how it's nothing but a toucan. But isn't that what gen 1 did? And why are we judging a Pokemon when we know nothing else about it besides how it looks?
Poll time:
http://www.strawpoll.me/11367322/rAlso, woodpeckers and toucans are actually quite closely related (at least, more closely related to each other than any other unrelated Pokemon line, like remoras to octopuses, Japanese robins to peregrine falcons, seagulls to pelicans, etc.) They actually belong to the same order, which is more closely related than any other of the unrelated lines.
PLEASE REFER TO PICIFORMES:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PiciformesI will admit that I am a little disappointed that they missed out on having a great final evo woodpecker and replacing it with a toucan, though. That's something I can't argue against. But hey, for Gamefreak, it kills two birds with one stone.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
