In fact, despite some of ORAS genuinely new things that felt like improvements, it still paled in comparison to Emerald, even if Emerald didn't have all the flashy effects and modern upgrades. ORAS is a good remake of Ruby and Sapphire, but it just isn't up to par to Emerald, unlike HGSS versus Pokemon Crystal, and that's probably the most frustrating thing about the game because it could easily have all those features and it's new additions. I also dislike the visual style of ORAS due to the poor 3D compared the more stylistic 2D, but that's more of a complaint against gen 6 and I can't really fault ORAS for it.
