The journal's held by two uncatchable Snorunt with another uncatchable Frosslass holding the other half, which tells a complete tale of the meeting, married life and separation of the man in question, mirroring the stories told in Japan about the ice woman of the mountains. That Snorunt's design is based off the children the Yuki-Onna sometimes carries (never mind Froslass herself is based off the Yuki-Onna) just hammers home the relationship and by extension, the inspirations for the line. And that's without even TOUCHING the fact we KNOW Game Freak have no issue with pokémon/human couplings and never did.
