Serena looks like a teenager in the anime. It's why I don't see the sexualization of the main girls a bad thing, they don't look like kids.

Seriously if ages in the show were never revealed everyone would assume the main cast was between 14-16 at the minimum. Sure still underage, but not as bad as "10" sounds.

I prefer May and Dawn, but I dunno, Serena is REALLY pretty. It's especially obvious when she's in her tripokalon outfit. She's also drawn older looking like a teen because of XY's art style, and it really makes her look like this young hot blonde.

I mean Serena was designed to be the perfect sex object.

Who was the target audience of Serena? Her character didn't seem to be aimed at little kids because they wouldn't care about romance. She also didn't quite seemed aimed at girls because she wasn't feminist enough.

Serena pretty much came across as a character from a harem anime that somehow wound up in Pokemon, and her character just doesn't really fit the format of the Pokemon anime and what it's about.

She was de-aged from the games but they made her look much older than she should of been. Look at her face here, she gives the impression of a 15-16 year old. I don't know why they baited the audience with this "teen romance" between Serena and Ash when it wasn't going to go anywhere
