It's a pretty blatant excuse to recycle old designs and capitalize on nostalgia. I wouldn't say I'm inherently opposed to it, but I do think it's lazy and uninspired more often than not. I'd rather have a brand new pokemon than an old one that's been palette swapped and given facial hair. And then gen 9 tried to push that convergence thing as if it wasn't regionals under a different name. To me, it just says that GF is running out of ideas and looking for easy ways to pad out their already small nu dexes.
