>>35953769Agreed 100% that you should ‘locke it how you want it. But, as a “strictly first encounter” kind of guy, my reasoning is twofold:
-Dupes clause is not in the original rules. Messing with the natural order flares up the old ‘tism for me
-Dupes clause can be cheesed to make nuzlockes pretty easy. One anon put it best with the example of Slowpoke Well: it’s something like 85% Zubat to 15% Slowpoke. Caught a Zubat earlier in the run? Congratulations, pick up your Slowpoke at the door.
The bottom line will always be “do your run as you please” but that’s the logic I follow. I don’t want to bend the challenge to me; I’ll adapt to the challenge.
