>>56587309I think that's the point, they specifically wanted to make Gen 3 cooler/edgier, so they started with extreme designs like this to get a new perspective. and then worked them backwards into being suitable for Pokemon.
funny thing, I always thought the Cacturne line was subtly out of place in Pokemon. it almost felt like a Final Fantasy creature to me or something. it's nice to be validated and know I wasn't crazy.
