It's true that, because of anonymity, you could do just about anything that doesn't break board rules (and even if you do break board rules you can easily evade), and people from sites like reddit seem to think that because you can get away with anything they should act completely ignorant of all board etiquette, but when everyone acts with decency we end up getting good threads filled with good posts. We should strive to individually provide high-quality posts as it improves the experience of everyone around us, and if they do the same in turn it makes our experience better.
There are positive and negative aspects to anonymity, and I feel when people don't abuse the negatives the net experience is much better than on a forum where the person attached to the post sometimes has more clout than the content of that post.
