It is becoming very generic novelty gimmick focused like the many imitator monster franchises of the past that died trying to get some of Pokemon's success. The games may as well merge with the Ashime. There was a time when the bs of the Ashime was consigned to the Ashime. The past 3 gens have been increasingly jumping the shark with deviantArt tier OC. Power sink will kill the meta. But the need to 1-up the ridiculousness of a previous gen is all you have when you lack substance. Pokemon has a lot in common with new iPhones.
For those that will say that we've complained that change needs to come and now that we have it we are hypocrites, the important detail is that some change is good, some is bad. I wish GF focused on balancing the Meta, revamping the formula, expanding on exploration and adventure, better characterization with a somewhat down to earth plot. I never asked for more formes, power sink, and more Anime influences.
