>>32505996>>325076944) Related to the previous one, you're better off either just using nothing but your starter or grabbing a good and versatile Pokemon early on and using nothing but that (hi Abra), you don't even have to try for it to become overleveled, you just have to play the game. By the time you reach Snorlax, you'll be at the point where battles just consist of pressing A. Heck, if you're at all clever with moves (read: get a fucking healing move) then as I've put it previously, "I don't visit the Pokemon Centres to heal. I visit them to reload." I almost always run out of PP before I do HP and honestly, with Pokemon like Snorlax and the evolutions of Abra, that's no surprise.
5) As an aside, the main thing I can actually compliment the game on is that if you try to catch 'em all with an on-level team, you'd can actually level grind without realising that's what you're doing (if you can be bothered to beat the wild Pokemon that you don't want to catch), but in terms of time efficiency, you're better off running from wild Pokemon if you're trying to catch stuff, so I suppose it's a moot point.
6) Some of the Pokemon are also just plain bullshit. The Safari Zone is probably the worst, some of the Pokemon have a less than 5% encounter rate but their capture rate is also tiny AND THEY RUN FROM BATTLE.
7) Then there's Porygon, he takes 9999 of the gambling coins to buy (in Red/Yellow, he's less in Blue, I think), so you either have to gamble (and I'm damn near certain the odds are in the house's favour) or fucking buy him by doing the Elite Four over and over again until you can buy enough fucking coins (no other trainer battles in gen 1 are repeatable). But hey, at least Drantini is so fucking hard to level up that you're gonna be forced to beat them a fucktonne of times anyway, if you're trying to catch 'em all.
