Defending:
Players no longer actively defend gyms. Berry cheesing with blisseys and IRL fights with autists removed. Garrisoned pokemon are determined at midnight based off the previous day's engagement. The top 7 players on the top team from the previous day own the gym for the next day. Garrisoned pokemon grant a 1 time bonus of 10 pokecoins, 500 dust, 500 exp, 5 candy and 3 XL candy at the start of the day and passively generate 25 exp, 25 dust, 1 candy and a 5% chance of XL candy each time they are challenged by a unique player throughout the day. Players can be garrisoned in a maximum of 5 gyms per day. They cannot train at a gym they are garrisoned in. (So they cannot be in the same gym two days in a row)
Players can collect badges of the different types, and maybe trade in 8 badges of unique types for some type of "elite" reward. This system can later be used to incorperate some type of Elie 4/Champion mechanic into the game.
