>>56006898It’s a lot easier for writers to just glue whatever idea they’d have for an OC onto a canon character or Ash and label it as “smart, AU, canon divergent, Aura, Isekai” with the exclamation marks because then it can follow the basic formula of being a rewrite with whatever else the author decides to write to it to make it a wankfest. It’s a common thing I’ve seen outside of pokemon fics so it’s not exclusive to it.
