>>53770864Niantic's CEO hates Pokémon as a brand for some reason, but Pokemon Go is the only thing keeping Niantic afloat. They keep trying to make new games that are literally just PoGo with different IPs in an attempt to get rid of Pokemon, but nothing has worked. Peridot is an all-in type strategy where it's as close to Pokémon as you can get while still being legally distinct, and they REALLY want people to play that instead so that they can let go of Pokémon. They're definitely going to sabotage PoGo with bugs and boredom while Peridot will get their complete attention, hoping that will cause the PoGo playerbase to move to Peridot. I predict the end result will be that PoGo becomes even more unplayable, even more sparsely populated, and Peridot will fail because it's just a worse version of PoGo which has always been a bad game. Since Niantic will pour extra resources into Peridot, it will take time to fail, which is time for PoGo to dry up, which means that they won't be able to salvage PoGo once they finally admit that Peridot isn't working. Once they have slain the cash cow, Niantic as a company will fold, which means the end of Pokémon Go because Peridot failed.
