The Japanese name in particular is ma'o, the endemic Hawaiian cotton. Then again the state flower is a yellow hibiscus with a similar name, but I digress.
As I stated earlier, it isn't a cotton variety that can be readily used for clothing. I guess I should've noticed that Mallow's outfit kinda looks like it's made of cotton.
