>>29648853They've been pushing gen 1 so hard in the recent years that it's been like, what's the point of the every later generation then? Why bother introducing new Pokemon if they're going to put 50% of the spotlight on the oldest generation? They're just going to throw them out and forget about them next generation anyway while gen 1 mons continue getting full feature in the next game.
Of course, they're just capitalizing on demand. Pokemon was most popular during generation 1 and it's this market that insists on sticking with one generation. It's just annoying seeing Gamefreak further encouraging this and pandering hard to this group with mostly-Gen 1 Megas and Alolan formes while other generations get shafted. They should be doing equal marketing so the other later generations continue receiving attention as well. You'd think the kids that start with later generations would have the starters of that generation as their iconic Pokemon but no, Gamefreak's been pushing them all to the same old Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur.
The same thing goes on in other series to be fair, Yugioh's been pushing Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician hard these days and Digimon always falls back on Agumon and variations of it.
