Think about both Gardevoir and Gallade get their names and behaviors based from knightly duties but they are two aspects of being a protector. Sirknight, or サーナイト comes from the Japanese サー、ナイト which literally means "Come, Knight."
Gardevoir is more of a supportive and be actively by your side sort of knight while Gallade is a knight that will go out and fight your battles. They both do kind of look their parts.
