You leave out the variable of human emotion, you make assumptions, and you end your plea on a question. It's true I could be discovering my "aptitude" but who is to say it hasn't already been crushed (where the emotional aspect comes in)? This ties into your second point of making someone proud. You assume many people arent, however, often those they are trying to make proud are huge nagging cunts (family for example) and are hard to please.
