Why does anyone thing that Charizard should be fire/dragon? I understand that he looks like a dragon, but consider this:
He is a starter, and in gen 1 dragon types were rare and powerful. Why would your first pokemon be the strongest type? Unless the charizard line was encountered late in the game, it wouldn't make sense.
