You deal with plodding, retarded melodrama that's miserable instead of at least being funny. Instead of feeling free to roam, the plot's sense of urgency railroads you place to place, and to pour salt in the wound, you, the player character, are explicitly treated as a walking plot device instead of an inhabitant of the actually impressive world they've created.
The drama and cutscenes drags on and on, the game expecting you to give a single fuck about the characters that are absolutely miserable (Victoria crying about Kiki, Florinia, Corey), revolting (le wacky Terra, deep dark fantasy Luna) or downright fucking heinous (Am*ria, T*tania, and K*ki herself, unintentionally). You finally make it to the gym battle. The wacky, quirky gym leader goes on a long spew of nonsense, and the battle starts. Your team of shitmons with their garbage natural learnsets are going up against their completely optimised team set to exploit the fuck out of the field that gives them double STAB. You can erase the field, but that needs a TM that's only available at the Elite 4. You can just keep using the Pokemon team you like and spam items and reset until it works, but is that really fun? Is raising a shitmon just for it to use one move to erase the bullshit field really how the game intends for you to go about it? Then even more drama happens, then you get to a dungeon, where the many puzzles that line the place are so fucking complex it takes a program the 5 million moves to solve it (I'm not making this up, see
https://www.rebornevo.com/forums/topic/48625-magic-square-puzzle-guide/).
At the end of the day, all the promise I saw just didn't pan out. It's unfortunate, because even for all its flaws I once shilled Reborn as a unique experience that's fun to try. It just doesn't seem to understand why it was enjoyable at one point.
