My prediction for Gym Leader and League teams for the inevitable Gen IX Johto games.
At first, they were more LGPE-like (with just original 251 and Megas) but I had a change of mind later and now think that the future Johto remake, although happening, will be a different animal (even if does get the Let's GO title and catching mechanics, I think some of the basic ideas will be different).
My idea is: original 251 + forms + cross-gen evos. No Megas (I don't believe they'd be returning this gen) or other gimmicks (this includes Paradox Pokemon - even if they are in the game, I don't think they'd be used by Trainers all that much). However, I did keep some of LGPE's premises, such as removing repeats and "canonized" starters (I just changed them, since I was dissatisfied with the fact that four of Blue's rematch Pokemon coincided with Lance's team. I also tried to give everyone at least one Gen II Pokemon.
The Gym Leader rematch teams may be either five or six Pokemon. The prediction for five-Pokemon teams is "remove the first Pokemon from each team".
Green/Leaf is a late addition, as I wanted all Kanto starters to be represented. I also think the games may feature some Fairy and Ground specialist (I'm betting for Valerie [because of her Johtonian background and her ace Sylveon meeting the criteria to be included, being an Eeveelution] and Giovanni [because who else?]). But I couldn't really predict in what part of the game they'd appear, so I didn't make any teams.
I also didn't predict levels or moves. I'm largely satisfied with the result, I just didn't have any good idea how to improve Lance's rematch team...
