I'm in the US and thus play on English carts. Can I simply restart one of my games, set the language to Japanese or French (or anything that's not English), then catch some 'mons and trade them over to my regular English cart and go to town breeding with the increased likelihood of hatching a shiny? Is it really that easy?
I thought it was the region of the cart, not the language in which you play the game that determined the tag associated with the Pokemon obtained in it. I have gotten Pokemon via trading that have Japanese names, yet do NOT have the JPN tag. What's up with that?
