How does the title of Champion actually work in these games? In the first gen games Blue becomes the champion, and then Red immediately beats him and becomes the new champion. Yet in the second gen, Lance is the champion. Is there a split between the Johto and Kanto League Champion title, even though they share the same League headquarters and even members of the E4? Or is there an official League Champion (in this case Lance) that you beat in order to become a "champion". Though that wouldn't explain how Blue became the Champion in the first gen. In the same respect, I am equally confused as to how Iris became Champion in BW2. Even though you beat the E4 and N, Alder is still in charge and passes everything on to Iris?
