Infact I’m guessing the reason AshGreninja was made was because the anime staff were told Z and Gen 6 mega starters weren’t happening anymore but still needed to give Ash a “mega”, so Ash Greninja was the compromise.
We know at some point another Kalo game was planned thanks to Sun and Moon having data for another Kalos game after ORAS.
