Breeding & IV questions

If that doesn’t make sense lets say that let’s say my two totodiles are perfect except for DEF. One has a fantastic rating (male) and another (female) has decent. Should I pair the female with a best DEF male but pretty good ATT? Or keep the totodiles with the same 5 perfect ivs together

I mean, they seemed to be doing a good job of it starting in Gen 3 with contests. But then they never continued the concept.

It would be nice to able to have leages for trainers, contest idols, and breeders. Like have contests with Pokemon with perfect or close to perfect IVs.

I never understood why they haven't done this, especially because it has playstyles that can't be compared to cock fights.

I'd make a game where you play as a Pokemon Breeder, or more accurately, a Pokemon Rancher. Much like Monster Rancher you'd own a Pokemon farm to breed and raise Pokemon. A high level of customization in farm creation lets you make it your own personalized space, and different features would be better for raising different kinds of Pokemon. Battlers, Coordinators, and other Trainers would come to you with specific requests for Pokemon to be bred for them. Things like "I want a cute Pokemon!", "I want a Pokemon that will give me an edge against Bug types.", or "I want snake Pokemon that knows Glare!" so you have a set amount of time to breed and train a Pokemon that meets their criteria. Do a good enough job and you can get recognized by the Pokemon League Association to breed specialized Pokemon like starter Pokemon for new trainers.

There would be more of an emphasis on the game being a comfy and fun experience, like the anon above who suggested Pokemon Crossing. An important part of raising your Pokemon would be spending time with them and getting to know their little idiosyncrasies and quirks. You may even have to choose at times whether you'd like to fulfill a contract with a trainer or keep the Pokemon you've bonded with for yourself. And of course there would have to be a "Fish-tank mode" where you get to just sit back and watch your dudes run around and caper.

Hell yeah. Breeding is comfy as fuck. At the tail end of Gen 6 I bred a few boxes full of good IV'd mons. All these little hatchlings are waiting for the trip to Alola.

To do this correctly should I breed male and female untill i get desired Nature, Ability and EM, then breed with Dottos for IVs and THEN breed with female in target ball?

I'd probably catch everything I can find but only use those I really like
