>>56196717Compared to the version I played when I was younger, what I knew was a lot worse but the stuff after isn't as horrible as I imagined it would be. A lot of older story beats have just been completely destroyed from Jan's rewrites and shit memory, including multiple things never getting followed up on again (The Snag Machine, Akuwa's residents, Kanon's crush on Melia, etc) that were originally and stuff like Tesla taking you in having a lot less weight now that there's 3 other "Here's your new room!" scenes and the stuff surrounding your mom that was added. Not to mention the stuff like Ren's anger at not saving his town still being tossed aside, and all the shit trying to justify bad people doing horrible things. I'm also never getting over Kris fucking Deltarune just showing up. The story was a mess before but it had a better good to bad ratio I feel when compared to what is now. But I won't lie, Renegade does have me interested in seeing where this goes when V14 comes out in 3 years at best. The game's problems ironically make for a great set up to a "Fuck this, I hate this world and I want it to burn" edgekino route, which almost feels retroactively intentional? Like Jan wasn't thinking of that at the start but at some point had to realize some people were tired of having to treat literal whos as besties and went with it instead of actually fixing any of it. A lot of M2's dialogue just feels too accurate to my own feelings at times for it to be coincidence.
As for where I go from here, I'm not too sure. I dont think I want to jump into Reborn this soon, but Desolation seems pretty interesting. I mostly just jumped in here because I was replaying Rejuv anyway and wanted some people to talk about it with, but I think I'm gonna wait and see if I still got the bug to play more pokemon before starting another game. Also depends on how long Desolation is because good lord I spent a lot of time of Rejuv alone
