And if I had any doubts about Buck remaining on the team, his encounter with Jupiter, despite being two levels below her dreaded Skuntank, put those qualms to rest. Headbutt has turned Buck into a wrecking ball, and not to be outdone, feeling confident in challenging Gardenia as I was, Florence avoided Stun Spore twice and knocked out her Roserade with a single crit Wing Attack four levels below it. Don't overlook Normals.
It hasn't all been good, though - Nirvana was, unfortunately, lost to a training mishap. She was lagging behind, so I thought to train her on the Cycling Road. Her Hidden Power was Ice, and I used it to good effect against an opposing trainer's Starly. Then Staravia showed up. Managed to get HP Ice off twice while sponging a Quick Attack and watching a DT, left him in the red. Audaciously, I tried for one more, perhaps greedy...and then I was promptly punished for my mistake, missing to watch Nirvana fall to a Wing Attack. If only that earlier QA wasn't a crit...should have sent in Mittens, honestly. But that's part and parcel of a Nuzlocke - you live with your mistakes.
For the moment, having experimented with her earlier, Lola is taking her place - never before have I realized just how efficient Frustration is. That's one of the boons an early-game Buneary offers.
Ponyta and Bronzor might be picked, though, and the Gastly I caught in the Old Chateau is Hasty. May consider them. Vivaldi, too. And since I realize that my team has a crippling weakness to Electric types, there may be a shuffle ahead.
Another friend was buried, and the march continued. Haven't caught anything at 208 yet, waiting for a Bonsly. Tried my luck at another tree on 209 and got a male Combee...kinda shrugged at that. Then my luck took a dramatic upswing at the Trophy Garden where I chanced upon a Jolly, Light Ball-owning Pikachu. Definitely considering her for a slot.
Currently waiting on a tree in 212 - here's hoping my luck holds.
