Gen I/II: No time gap in the generation but the next generation
Gen III: R/S were released on 2002 in Japan and Emerald was released on 2004, leaving 2003 without any new games. USA had no time gap.
Gen IV: D/P released on 2006 in Japan and Platinum released on 2008, there was no main games on 2007. USA had a time gap between 2007 and 2009
Gen V: B/W released on 2010 and B2/W2 released on 2012, leaving 2011 without new games. USA had no time gap this gen.
Gen VI: X/Y released worldwide on 2013. This is the first time that there is a time gap since /vp/'s creation and now people are: /VP/ ON SUICIDE WATCH; Z IS NOT HAPPENING/WAS CANCELLED; etc.
Be patient, /vp/, if this year Kalos 2 wasn't announced then the next year it will be announced. Also since Gen III every gen receive a lot of spin-off release.
