I know TPC is supposed to be Nintendo/GF/Creatures but in terms of actual power, Nintendo is the one calling the shots. They have the money, the actual copyrights, the distributiun with creatures.inc, etc.

I think Masuda poured a lot of passion into Black and White but they were released when the "pokemania generation" was fully into adolescence. Most people found pokémon cringe, found the new creatures cringe, the attempt at a serious plot laughable, etc. It sold well, but the franchise took some reputational damage.
After that, I think Nintendo took the reigns and urged Game Freak to pander and dumb down the games even more.
What probably broke Masuda is that it worked. No matter how badly designed their games is, Pokémon cannot fail anymore. The pokemania kids went back to adulthood full of nostalgia and they want pokémon again... but it's too late.
What I fear, after the recent leaks, is that Nintendo will order GF to sanitize pokemon even more. No more "sexy pilot", no more innuendo,, no mention of violence again, etc.
