>>52916890 also raises an interesting point but points out immediately what would be bad about it - natures would have a SIGNIFICANT, TANGIBLE difference, but making them random and giving them utility means some natures will still just be better than others. You'd need to ensure there were ways to manipulate natures to get the one you want if that's what you're after, and at that point why are we making 16x movepools if there's going to be 1-2 that are better?
I think limiting a pokemon species to 3-4 natures would keep the uniqueness just varied enough to make you check the nature when you catch them, but catering the selection allows us to guarantee ALL natures possible provide an interesting experience.
