>>15856892I don't like to start without having a rough idea, at least, about where I'm going with it, because I dread getting stuck or lost somewhere down the road. So for long stretches of time I'll just think up concepts and knock the ideas back and forth inside of my head. Once they all fit together I start writing outlines for EVERYTHING, chapter outlines usually come last though because I'm a lazy faggot and character bios are way easier and more fun to write.
But yeah, once chapter outlines are done somewhat, then I start writing. I'll have a "rough outline of the story" like "This will happen here and this will happen there" and everything inbetween is kinda like walking down a path in the dark. You can't really see anything, but you gotta get used to the light before you can see and understand the things around you, and then see where you're going. I'll start writing as long as I have that rough outline though, never usually before. Some ideas come as you're going along though, and outlines change.
