I'm sure you're all familiar with Gen IV. The Pokedex contained, not including the starters, legends, regional bird, bug, pika, and fossils, about 40 completely original Pokemon concepts.
So far, Gen VI has revealed the starters, the box legends, a new Eeveelution, and a Mewtwo redesign. I sincerely hope that Newtwo is a forme, because I'd hate to have completely new Dex entries being filled by long lost cousins.
In other words (and including the starter evolutions), so far we have a total of 13 Dex entries that have produced zero original concepts. This isn't about muh nostalgia or hate for Gen IV. I love the new starters, legends, and think Newtwo looks great (sorry Sylveon). But these are all extensions of old concepts and Pokemon, and as much as I'm looking forward to new evolutions of old Pokemon, I'll be very disappointed if the Gen VI Dex is overrun by older extensions, and completely original concepts again become the minority.
