If you notice, nearly all popular pokemon are inspired on popular animals or creatures like Cats, Dogs, Foxes, Dragons and the like. The one exception seems to be Greninja, who managed to pull a Gigantic Fanbase even despite being based on a pretty reviled animal. Though i guess that can be somewhat attributed to the fact that Frogs have been slowly becoming more accepted in the normie community, considering how shit like Dat Boi and Pepe became a big thing.
I for one, am happy that this time the dog actually has a fucking muzzle unlike that ugly, Jewish abomination Lucario.
