No matter what gender you choose she wants to be with you as a good friend and watch fireworks, battle and catch pokemon together and even trade, it's not just a stupid romantic subplot(not that they would have a real one)
So in conclusion about them, having more than two "rivals" was always awful and they should have learned from BW.
Serena on the other hand(didn't play as a girl so no Calem opinion) is the most pitiful, awful anything in the entire series.
She does nothing but whine about losing to you, and how she should be better every time you trounce her. Until you just mind break her and she offers to fight you forever.
