Pokemon is a different game to different people.
Pokemon from Ninetales to Lucario to Delphox have an obvious demographic in mind. The various useless cutemons have a demo and the most OU of Pokemon as well.

>>14333140) said about Magic the Gathering. Not everybody is a competitive or casual and some players like doing ridiculous or stupid things. The diverse fanbase and the diverse ways to play the game make for a whole sea of different takes on "what a good Pokemon game looks like". In that essence, a new Pokemon game is a tall order since it has to be a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Because heaven forbid we have an all Karen-style generation or all /vp/ style generation where every 'mon is the lovechild of Goodra and Gardevoir.
