I'm just more impulsive since I'm satisfied with what I've saved up and I'd like to have new sync pairs from time to time. There are times when I got lucky. Rolled literally once for SS Grimsley and got him somehow. There's plenty of pairs I still want like Karen, Cynthia, Sabrina, or Dawn, but I'm fine with waiting for the next pokefair. I probably would have put more into this Steven banner if Serena didn't come immediately afterward.
