I'm not saying it needs to be Pixar level, it just needs to not be 1990s level, plenty of worse, lesser known, less profitable games/cartoons have had better looking animated sequences, both long and short, the most profitable media franchise on the planet has no excuse. It's not even a matter of fidelity, the artstyle is simply non-existent.
Pic related is a real time rendered sequence in the rushed soulless outsourced cashgrab remake of the Spyro games. These 30 seconds look better than pretty much anything 3D Pokemon related ever officially produced, the dragon never appears again and there are 79 more unique dragon models with the same fidelity and great animation that also only appear for 15-30 seconds max. Fucking Activision can do it.
