XY honestly felt way more hollow than ORAS did, in my opinion.
If I had to choose, I'd choose ORAS.
You end up really feeling just how hollow and empty Kalos is once you beat the Elite 4 and go to Kiloude City. There's only like three legendaries to catch, the routes get old, the cities get old, the map is remarkably linear, the Mega Stone collecting crap is bullshit, you can't fly directly to routes...
Seriously, no matter what anyone says, unless you REALLY REALLY desperately need the Friend Safari to catch like 30 Pokemon half of which are already found in Hoenn or absolutely adore trainer customization to a point where it's a deal breaker no matter how many more features the opposing game has, go with ORAS.
