I train in martial arts with a guy who works at game freak and he is currently working on an update that will be released post crown tundra.
In this update the full national dex will be available and it will open up for new areas on the map to catch new pokemon.
Once the update is released you talk to the flying taxi driver in Wyndon and he takes you to a forest off to the right of Wedehurst. Here you can find Weedle, Ekans, Oricorio, Aipom, Yanma, Shroomish, the gen 5 monkeys and more. There is also a small quest similar to the Diglett one where you have to battle or catch Alolan Rattata as they are an introduced species and threaten the ecosystem. You are rewarded with a Katonian Rattata once you find all 20.
The second area you can go to is in the middle of Turrfield and Stow on side. It is a mix of an open field and desert. You can find Zangoose, Seviper, Blitzle, Skiddo, Mareep, Doduo, Cacnea, Numel and more.
The next area is slightly higher and to the left of Stow on side and is a tropical beach. There are Seel, Finneon, Buizel, Crabrawler, Alomomola, Ducklett, Bruxish and more. There is a quest where you have to find some Grimer that are causing trouble near a power plant. Once you find all 15 you are rewarded with both an Alolan Grimer and Kantonian.
The last area is to the right of Wyndon and above Circhester. Here there are three sets of caves and a small tundra area. There are Phanpy, Geodude, Minior, Nosepass, Meditite, Unown and the only new Galar Pokemon which is the Slugmar line. They are rock and fairy type as they have been crystalised similar to Carbink.
Mythicals such as Darkrai, Deoxys, Meloetta, Hoopa and Arceus will be getting raid events available in different months.
