People praise Pt for fixing the problems in D/P, but this doesn't make Platinum good, it just means that D/P were arguably the worst Pokemon games overall and Platium is just average.
Sinnoh itself has a ton of flaws, namely it's Pokemon selection. No, throwing in Ralts and Houndour in a few routes does not fix the issue, as the majority of teams are still had the core of Starter/Staraptor/Luxray because the pickings in early game are so laughably slim and entire types of Pokemon have almost zero presence in the region. For example, in Plat, you wouldn't be able to make an entire team of Grass types until you reach Snowpoint. Two of the ~six grass lines in the game are in the Safari Zone and the other line is a starter.
The region itself is also a nightmare, a bigass mountain in the middle means you're going to constantly be entering caves with shitty Zubat and Geodude, so you'd have to waste repels to go though a small cave section because battles took a full minute just to run away from.
And lest we forget the never ending stream of HM requirements. The only region that comes close to beating you over the head with needed HMs is Hoenn, and that place is 1/3rd ocean. You'd need one dedicated HM slave and a second or third mon with HMs that you didn't want to give them because 1 HM slave isn't enough. Sinnoh is just a fucking slog to play through, and the Distortion World is a glorified hallway cutscene with a strength puzzle.
The only reason anyone tries to defend these games is because they started with DPPt and ignore the many faults because of nostalgia. Most of these people are barely 18.
