Learning about this
& some bullshit happening to me IRL today has made me supremely bummed. I'm a 33 year old man, but I was tearing up seeing videos of Misty on YouTube, especially her goodbye scene at the end of the Johto series. I never even knew the name of Misty's VA, but I know how much impact she had on me.
I realized that I was mourning for the first time in my life. I've lost a distant grandmother & got sad when I lost pets in the past, but this one really hit me. For the first time in my life, & I have never felt this way about any Hollywood death. Pokemon was a massive part of my childhood, & has given me a lot of warmth & wonder as a kid & an adult.
Rest in Peace, Rachel Lillis. I'm glad you lived long enough to see Ash Ketchum become World Champion & retire from being a series protagonist.
