All I always hear is: "X was so much better when I was kid!", and "Children of this generation have no idea what they were missing out on! Fuck those little shits for being nostalgic and forming positive memories over something that didn't exist when I was a kid!"
How one person could feel that way about something is fascinating to me. Perhaps it has something to do with the yearning to have one's own childhood back? Or perhaps it is related to our natural sense of human human pride?
If it is the latter, that makes it even more sad how one can actually value their superiority in the pokemon fanbase of all places.
