By offloading things like national dex and gts to home, they now have the ability to cut more corners and push out even more mediocre main series games; with the ability to add/remove pokemon and features on a whim
Pokemon's been headed this direction for a while, but especially with Sword/Shield, it feels more like an impersonal factory produced product meant to maximize profits then a pokemon game with heart. Similar to how Disney's been busy porting all their successful animated movies to mediocre live action to make a quick buck
