Gates has the most stable cast, and due to it having a smaller "core" everyone gets their own chance to shine outside of the lesser Paradise merchants. Meanwhile, a large chunk of Explorers and Super felt like filler due to them having to fill a headcount quota for guilds. Sunflora and Loudred star in a Special Episode, but it doesn't quite flesh them out as much as Bidoof and Wigglytuff do, and in the base game they don't really get much stardom either.
What actually brings down Super's Expedition Society is that most of the comic relief hinges on Swirlix, so the entire cast devolves into an amalgamation of the unfunny food joke. Even Archen and Ampharos fall victim to it, Ampharos moreso due to his comic relief attitude.
