Why not just make it that much easier for everyone to focus on the designs and not worry about starters and legendaries. Just make pokemon for the sake of fun and balance them for battles.
How is this not what everyone wants anyways? I haven't seen anyone the least bit interested in the story or lore, so why force it and make the oncoming threat of having to fit everything into a single player story? It makes no sense to me
