>>38519046>Not when they transform into shitty overdesigned versions of themselvesOpinion. I fucking loathe some Mega designs myself, Tyranitar for instance, but others I really like such as Scizor.
>That's only somewhat true. Megas did make some shitty Pokemon more viable (Lopunny, Charizard, ect), but you can only use one per team, meaning you can't use Lopunny and Charizard in the same team and have it be viable in OUThey do this for balance reasons, because they knew megas were going to be very powerful. Doesn't make the mechanic shit.
>Most are. Giving a Pokemon a temporary 100+ BST form with a broken ability and (sometimes) typing is "busted as hell" and does nothing to fix power creep. In fact, it worsens power creepA good half of all megas are below OU, they're not nearly as broken by nature as you think. The shittier ones desperately needed that boost. Also a reminder that they give up their held item slot which is a significant trade-off. I'd argue HAs, UBs, and Tapus did worse for power creep than megas. Or how about shit like Kyurem-B being in goddamn OU.
>Not to the extent that Gen 6 and 7 didStealth Rock made entire typings totally unviable in gen IV, people are still bitching about it. Everyone bitches about Lando-T being in every team and that was introduced in gen V, along with HAs which is where a good chunk of the power creep has come from since then. For fuck's sake a garbage regional bird was OU thanks to its HA last gen. But nah, must be megas.
>No, because they are all (mostly) in Ubers, where they belong. Box Legendaries are supposed to be overpowered and are banned in VGC. Mega Evolutions, on the other hand, are 570+ BST Pokemon not banned in VGC and most tiers in Smogon. Meaning power creep increases and the game turns into a Mega and legendfestExcept any mega that was as busted as a box legendary got banned in Smogon's meta. VGC is a different story, obviously.
