Also I remember my mom telling me to not say that my pokemon "got killed" and that they "fainted" instead, which is like... true.
Favorite POKEMANIA memory is the day my friend brought in a Pokedex toy for show and tell and it was so cool that the teacher lost control of the class and pokemon stuff was contraband from then on. Same friend brought a ton of bootleg pokemon toys from China too. We're still friends but last gen we were both involved in was Gen IV.
