>>46871899The problem with recent pokemon rivals is they get written like a protag but are never allowed to actually ascend to that role. Hell they can't even be the friend who turns on you. Their goal is generally the same as yours but with a bit more story behind their actions. Giving their drive a little more dynamic than I paid money for this so I've fucking beating it.
I don't know why they keep writing them goals which involve beating you or some uber trainer who you'll beat instead. Arcs like Bianca's work way better for the game's format.
